This is a 1928 RCA Radiola model 106 speaker in original condition with original speaker, electronics, and tapestry. Over the years, This speaker has become known as "The Theremin Speaker". Only 200 original RCA theremins were ever produced. The model 106 was the top of the line radio speaker at RCA in 1928, so it was sold with the Theremin as a pair when purchased new. The 106 is a rare speaker as well, though certainly more than 200 were produced. It was also sold with RCA's most expensive radios at the time. Most all surviving examples are found amplifying vintage RCA radios. My 106 is as original as it gets, and is very rare for its condition. All fabric is still original, and the wood cabinetry has not been abused. There is tattering wear to the outside fabric located above where the internal speaker curves on top. This is the only fabric wear I can find. For a 95 year old piece of furniture, its in great condition. The original speaker is intact and functional. All hardware associated with the speaker is original. The 1926 RCATheremin was the worlds first commercially available electronic musical instrument, and the model 106 was the first speaker used to amplify it!
