Job Information Selection Process Number:24-DFO-NCRCCG-EA-617253 Reference Number:DFO24D-154296-000005 Job Titles: Engineering Officers, Senior Engineering Officers Tenure: Various types of appointments(Casual, Term, Indeterminate, etc . ) Locations: Various locations across Canada Rates of Pay: $41 . 01 to $58 . 88 an hour (NEW effective April 1, 2024) Classification : SO-MAO-03, SO-MAO-04, SO-MAO-05, SO-MAO-06, SO-MAO-07, SO-MAO-08 Work schedule:Engineering Officers and Senior Engineering Officers work a schedule of a period of 14, 28 or up to 42 days at sea, followed by equivalent time off with pay . Qualifications candidates must have for Senior Engineering Officer, SO-MAO-06,SO-MAO-07,SO-MAO-08 (essential) * Valid Transport Canada Third-class marine engineering certificate   or a Valid Transport Canada Second-class marine engineering certificate* * Experience as a marine engineering officer * Create vision and strategy * Mobilize people * Uphold integrity and respect * Collaborate with partners and stakeholders * Achieve results * Promote innovation and guide change * Ability to communicate effectively orally * Ability to communicate effectively in writing* Certain positions require a Third-class certificate, while others require a Second-Class certificate . Asset qualifications for an Engineering Officer * Valid Transport Canada Second-class marine engineering certificate or higher * Experience in refit and/or drydock operations * Experience in supervising/managing staff Asset qualifications for a Senior Engineering Officer * Valid Transport Canada First-class marine engineering certificate * Experience in Marine Engineering Shore based positions * Operational experience as a Senior Dayworking Engineer * Experience with preventive/predictive maintenance practices and experience with maintenance management programs * Experience in refit and/or drydock operations * Experience in supervising/managing staff Organizational Need The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) recognizes that the diversity of its employee population contributes to its strength and integrity . Conditions of Employment * Obtain and maintain a valid secret security clearance * Obtain and maintain a valid Health Canada medical for seagoing personnel* * Hold a valid passport or other valid travel documents/ visa permitting entry to Canadian and United States Ports of Calls * Maintain a validCertificate of Competency * Willingness and ability to be deployed anywhere in Canada * Willingness and ability to go to sea for prolonged periods of time and in adverse weather conditions * Willingness and ability to travel by land, air, and water * Willingness and ability to work overtime * Willingness and ability to wear and maintain a uniform per CCG standards, safety footwear, and maintain job related personal safety equipment * Compliance with the CCG Safety Management System and Standards * Willingness and ability to wear a Respiratory Protection device and meet the standard of the CCG Respiratory Protection Program*A valid Transport Canada Seafarer’s medical may be accepted on initial appointment for a period of up to a maximum of 6 months or until a Health Canada Medical is completed.
