Position: Service Technician - Island Owl Mazda Salary Range:$35.00 To $45.00 Hourly ISLAND OWL MAZDA is growing again and we are looking for a Journeyman Automotive Technician to join our team in our busy Vancouver Island location. Our ideal candidate has a passion for the automotive industry, and a desire to work and live in an amazing location on Vancouver Island. Responsibilities: * Perform Automotive Repairs - Mechanics perform standard vehicle repairs on their own, tasks such as changing brake pads and rotors, replacing vehicle fluids, and replacing car batteries * Inspect and Test Vehicles - All vehicles must be tested before and after the repair procedure, a task that often falls to apprentice mechanics * Follow Car Checklists - Mechanics use company-created automobile checklists to determine which repairs are needed on vehicles scheduled to be serviced * Customer service –mechanics may speak with customers to learn the nature of their vehicle problems, explain repair processes * Physical ability – candidates seeking this job must be physically able to complete tasks; mechanics stoop, crawl, work laying down, and lift heavy pieces of vehicle machinery * Mechanical skills –mechanics must have a strong understanding of mechanics and engines in order to complete their daily duties and successfully repair all types of vehicle problems * Test Car Batteries - Mechanics routinely disconnect batteries inside vehicles and hook them up to an in-shop testing device to determine their functionalityRequirements: * Red seal Journeyman ticket required. Would also consider a 3rd year Apprentice as we are willing to train the right applicant * Requires the ability to listen and absorb information, as well as the ability to relate information clearly to others * Analytical abilities – dozens of different things can go wrong on any vehicle; mechanics must isolate the problems * Completed Grade 12 or equivalent Wage: * Depending on experience; $35 flat rate plus tiered bonus and spiffs (may equal or exceed $45 per hour) Benefits: * Company events * Extended health benefits Experience: * Automotive Technician: 3 years (preferred) At Island Owl Mazda, we are in the business of helping clients from Campbell River and surrounding areas find the perfect new Mazda or pre-owned vehicle.
